Raided the Federal blockading force of unarmored ships lying just outisde the entrance to Charleston Harbor.
Engaged other Union ships in a long-range duel
April 7, 1863: Defense of forts at Charleston when attacked by squadron of ironclad monitors. The Federal ships were forced to retire for repairs and did not return to action.
1864: Transporting of troops during the evacuation of Morris Island, and the bombardment of Forts Sumter, Gregg, and Wagner.
